Bubbly Treats for Your Valentine

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

With Valentine’s Day right around the bend, I bet you are trying to decide how to impress your sweetheart, yes? I have a couple of ideas that will thrill couples or singles (after all, why not celebrate the friends that are always there for you?)

My fab friend Maura over at 365 Atlanta (however does she find such cool things for us every.single.day?) has the perfect idea for tonight – a Champagne Tasting…for $15 dollars!!!! Sign me up. Pack up all your favorites in the car and pop on up to Dunwoody to Alon’s for this evening of bubbly fun!

Ok, you have your bubbly all picked out – but why just pour a plain glass of champagne when you can glam it up? My sweet friend Jamie in NYC is shaking things up with Corzo Tequila and champagne – my buddies in the big city sure know how to do it right!! Here’s a special cocktail that is sure to make your valentine giddy! Oh, and don’t forget to save a bit of your Corzo Tequila for the exciting recipe after this one!

A blush drink for your blushing Valentine.

Corzo Amor
1 part of Corzo Silver Rose petals and Hibiscus infusion
3/4 part Elderflower liqueur (St. Germain)
Top with Champagne
Serve in a champagne glass and finish with a lemon twist.

Where to find Hibiscus flowers: Any Latin American market or health store.
Where to find Rose petals: Any Latin American market (Rosa de Castilla dry).

Aw, criminy, does the boss have you working late tonight and you can’t make the champagne tasting? Well, that’s okay, Sugar, I have an ultra cool idea you can do at home. I adore this idea and I am just unhappy I didn’t think of it first. It is so brilliant.

Gorgeous Naomi over at Bakers Royale is whipping up these insanely fab treats for her friend’s parties. Take a look.

They’re jello shooters, y’all!!! OMG, aren’t they the coolest things ever? Naomi has also fashioned shooters to look like lemon wedges and rock candy. She is today’s big blog crush.

Whoever you make these for is bound to feel very, very special indeed. Go ahead, impress your lovey!

What have you planned for Valentine’s Day?

xoxo, Patti

Good Morning Darlings!

Ok, I’m all refreshed after taking the day after Super Bowl to tidy up and plan what I am going to do with the leftovers. I thought you might enjoy seeing how we celebrated.

Movie Monday

Monday, February 7th, 2011

Good Morning Darlings,

How was your Super Bowl Sunday? Did you party with all your favorites and holler at the television? Good, that’s the American way. Me, too. And I have a bit of clean up to do before I can report back on the activities and yummy goodies everyone brought, so here’s a fun video Barry and I made with a super easy recipe for a ridiculously delicious pie for your sweetie on Valentine’s Day.

Enjoy!

More Birthdays Mean More Cake!

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

Since Shane’s cake turned out so well, I thought I would go for it for Kerry and Ryan’s birthday dinner on Friday night. Oh, it was so good!

We kept this a small affair – only five of us. Arancini started the night right. If you have never had these, they are risotto balls stuffed with cheese and fried. Oh my golly. And I won’t lie, I bought these beauties at Trader Joe’s – less cooking for me! Yay!

Trader Joe's - Arancini Bites

They’re bigger in person. Anyhoo, the menu was rack of lamb, pesto mashed potatoes and a veggie medley. That veggie medley also came from Trader Joe’s, but it was not so tasty, so lets not mention it again, shall we?

You have got to check out the cake!

Guest Post – Dr. Seuss Baby Shower

Monday, January 31st, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

Today I am handing over the reins to my sweet friend, Arlynn, who loves giving parties as much as I do! She created a baby shower around a Dr. Seuss theme, which I think is just adorable.

Please help me welcome Arlynn! Take it away!

I have a confession to make here on Anatomy of a Dinner Party (ADP)… I am
a party-a-holic. Yes, there may not currently be a support group available for people
in my state of ā€œdistress,ā€ and although my husband may wish otherwise, Iā€™m totally
cool with it. Ā In fact, Iā€™m thrilled to have such an exciting addiction ā€“ I mean, who
doesnā€™t love a party?!? Oh yeah, back to the Hubs. I wouldnā€™t go so far as to grant
him the title of Party Pooper, but he certainly doesnā€™t appreciate my panache for all
of the excitement generated by a nicely organized party. Especially one in which
heā€™s kicked out and Ā asked to leave our home for a few hours, ha! Lucky for you ADP
readers, sweet Patti does appreciate & thatā€™s why she asked me to share my story of a recent Dr. Seuss themed baby shower I had the pleasure of co-hosting at my house! Lucky for me too, to be able to share with you ā€“ thanks a million P!!!

Well, this sordid tale of a Dr. Seuss baby shower fit for a soon-to-be precious
Princess all began when the Hubs and I purchased our first home. Weā€™re OTPā€™ers
(out of the perimeter of Atlanta) – please donā€™t hold it against us ā€“ and found
ourselves to be living in the midst of lots of families with kids. Well, there was one
couple, right around our age who were, at the time, childless. Score one for crazy-
fun-young neighbors like us! Well, before long they wouldnā€™t find themselves
childless… Commence immediate party planning ā€“ and Iā€™m talking before they even
have time to show us the first sonogram image.

Cake Again?

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

You would think that after my fiasco of trying to bake two failed cakes for Holly’s birthday that I might just give up. Oh no. I have not learned my lesson yet. Plus, I am hosting a tiny dinner party for my beloved friend Kerry (check out his gorgeous new website here) on Friday night for his belated birthday.

I needed something sassy, sweet and chic, just like Kerry. Lemon layer cake seems to fit the bill. America’s Test Kitchen made it and if they can do it, I should be able to as well, yes? Isn’t it pretty?

Stay tuned. And please cross your fingers for me and say a little prayer to the kitchen goddesses that I can get this one right.

Weekend Edition-Ritz Round Up

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

Hope you all are having a splendid weekend filled with fun.

You know how I love The Ritz-Carlton. Not only are their properties to die for, but I have made some fabulous friends there, too. And they are always coming up with new and exciting things to delight visitors with. And with the Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day just around the corner, they are planning the most divine scenarios imaginable. Take a look:

From way down south, my friend Paulina at The Ritz-Carlton Cancun shares a unique dining experience at Twelve. With seating for only twelve guests, you are welcome to step into the kitchen with Chef Rory and help prepare the night’s meal, if you would like. The Viking equipped kitchen overlooks the Caribbean Sea – Eric and I were so privileged to indulge in this gourmet fantasy over the Christmas holiday, so you can trust me when I say it is the ultimate foodie experience. Three set menus in Mexican, Southern and Mediterranean cuisine await you in this five course experience that you will never forget. How about that for whisking your darling away for Valentine’s Day? Perhaps to pop the question?

Cook with Chef Rory in this magical kitchen setting.

A Very Happy Hollyday

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

Sunday night was a double whammy – the Golden Globes and our beloved Holly’s birthday! A dual reason to celebrate.

Now, you might remember me trying to make Holly a “healthy” cake from black beans, as documented in this video. That didn’t go so well. So, I tried again Sunday morning to make a “real” cake. Not so great, either. Note to self – it is extremely difficult to soften butter at room temperature when it is snowing outside.

Oh, geez, what to do now? Cake Hag to the rescue!! If you remember, they were the star of our dinner with Eddie + Jaithan this past summer, with their luscious red velvet cake. I called Maggie & Katie and even though they had been closed due to the snow/ice storm, they had one perfect cake, just for me. I have never been more relieved. Four layers of rich, dark chocolate cake layered with scrumptious chocolate buttercream. Thanks, Ladies!!

Cruising for the Best Recipes

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

There are so many fab blogs out there that I bet you’ve never read. And since being snowed in all week, I’ve had plenty of time to scour the web to find the best cozy recipes for you.

How about spaghetti and mozzarella stuffed meatballs from Babble? Aren’t these gorgeous?

Nom, nom, nom!

And Tessa over at Handle The Heat had me swooning with her chicken wrapped in proscuitto and sage. Golly that sounds scrumptious.

At Let’s Dish they are baking up Snickerdoodle Bread. OMG, are you kidding me? That sounds fantastic!

So, if you are snowed in, there are three recipes to try. Don’t they sound tasty?

How Not To Bake

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

My friend Barry and I made a little video for you on how not to bake. I think you will like it. Take a look as we try to make a special cake for Holly’s birthday.

Enjoy!
