Anatomy of a Dinner Party: a day in the life of a hospitalityaholic

Everyday is a Hootenanny with Melanie!

Written by Patti on May 3rd, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

The weather is getting warmer, and you know what that means – more parties!

Our darling friend and neighbor, Melanie threw the first hootenanny of the season. Don’t you love that word, hootenanny? Me, too.

Melanie is good at it, too! With the cutest handmade signs and every type of chip and jello shot known to Western civilization, it was time to party! And party we did!

We invited our new friends Tim and Casey to join us for the fun. They have just moved to town from Los Angeles and we were happy to introduce them to some new friends.

You know how I love to share photos with you, so here we go!

Melanie makes sure the keg is working properly.

Jello Shot Menu! I liked the B-52s. They did not like me so much the next morning.

And what is a hootenanny without food? Not a hootenanny?

There was banana pudding..

Pimento cheese sammies...

Beautiful Melissa with a heap of grilled corn

That marshmallowy salad stuff that is ubiquitous in the south. Yum.

And Sam manned the grill. (He's way famous, you know).

With the food well underway, we had scads of time to catch up with all our favorites.

Sweet Denise

Shane(sandwich), Meryl and Joel...

Tiffany made some blackboard art while Ashley and Meryl cheer her on.

It's my good buddy, Jay. The party has arrived!

We let Jim take his own photo.

It's Nick!

New friends Casey and Tim.

Casey and I pause for a photo on the porch.

My sweetheart, Eric.

Tiffany finishes her Yankee pin-up girl.

Indeed.

So get on out there and host a hootenanny of your own. And send me all your photos – I will put them up on the blog. You can reach me at patti@anatomyofadinnerparty.com

xoxo, Patti

Hahaaaaa! Patti! This is fantastic! I just relived the whole evening through these amazing photos. Thankfully I look like a serial killer hovering over the keg there – don’t want attendance to get out of hand for the next one.

Also, your readers should consider a mininanny. Also awesome.

    LOVE LOVE!

You are the consummate hostess! Everybody loves Melanie! Thanks a million for inviting us.

Maybe we should have a best hootenanny photo show down with prizes on the blog??
