Anatomy of a Dinner Party: a day in the life of a hospitalityaholic

Aqua Vino

Written by Patti on October 19th, 2010

Good Morning, Darlings!

Don’t you just love wine? Me, too! I was so excited when my good pals Doug and Sharon Paul from Three Sisters Vineyards asked me if I would like to represent them at the city’s premiere wine event held at The Georgia Aquarium. If you read the blog with any regularity, you know I am a BIG fan of their wines and jumped at the opportunity to pour for them.

All dressed up in my favorite sweater dress (it is autumn, after all….) and cute brown slingback pumps, off I went to participate in this fab evening. I met with Doug and Sharon earlier in the week to make sure I knew all the particulars about the winery. I even memorized the wines used to blend their Fat Boy White and Fat Boy Red. Corkscrew in hand I was ready to meet a bundle of new friends!

But first, one of my favorites – Mr. John Walker, king of special events at the aquarium. I rung him up right before the throng arrived and we had a chance to quickly catch up.

There's always time for a hug with John.

Luck had me set up by the stingrays – my favorite exhibit. They are so lively and you can pet them. Take a look!

Stingrays and sharks, oh my!

I set up the table and met my other neighbors, all from the North Georgia Wineries. I loved making all the wine look lovely – although that was a pretty easy task. I opened a few bottles and iced down the whites.

Close Up

I had a bit of time before the guests arrived, so I took a stroll and snapped some photos. Grey Goose had a fantastic lounge set up in front of the whales.

Under the sea with Grey Goose.

Highland Bakery created an airbrushed dolphin cake especially for the event.

Isn't this beautiful?

There were jugglers from Cirque du Soleil and gorgeous pastries from all around Atlanta.

Cirque on bouncy stilts.

Chocolate Mousse all ready to be devoured.

The prettiest pastries.

And then all the guests arrived. There were so many fans of Three Sisters! People had visited, people adored the wines. It was a Three Sisters lovefest. If you were there and I didn’t get a chance to say hello, I hope you enjoyed your evening. It was glorious.

I love how the lights change constantly. It's like being in an aquatic disco!

xoxo, Patti
