Good Morning Darlings!
A group of friends started this cookbook club at the beginning of 2012 and invited Eric and me to join.
Well, since we started, we inducted a new member. Little Carter, who was born to Michelle and Byron. He is a stellar addition, and we are thrilled to have him on board!
Life has gotten so busy for us all, but we decided we needed to reconvene this past Sunday. Our cookbook of choice was The Gift of Southern Cooking, by Atlanta icons, Edna Lewis and Scott Peacock.
It was a perfect choice for this rainy night get together. The menu had these goodies on it:
Grits with Shrimp Paste
Captain’s Chicken
Sour Milk Cornbread
Potato Casserole
Sweet Potato Casserole
Skillet Corn
Fresh Tomato Slices
Pound Cake
Strawberry Ice Cream
Every bit was wonderful. Eric and I hosted, and since the menu was southern comfort food, I set the table with tulips in Mason jars and tea lights in Ball jars. No tablecloth needed. I also used blue and white dish towels as napkins. We served sweet tea, PBR, red and white wine.
Pictures are so much better than words:
It was a wonderful night with wonderful friends. And as is the Cookbookery Club tradition, the person who hosts gets to pick the next cookbook.
I chose Feast by Nigella Lawson. I can’t wait to see what everyone will whip up!
How are you celebrating fall?
xoxo, Patti
