Skee Ball, BBQ and a Challenge Met

Written by Patti on October 1st, 2012

Good Morning Darlings!

This weekend was filled with birthday celebrations with my sweetheart, Eric.

Friday night we ate at Bone Lick BBQ and had a blast. Bone Lick has some of the tastiest treats along with FREE SKEE BALL! And Space Invaders and Centepede!

I really love Skee Ball. And their old school machine is so much fun. Take a look.

Shall We Play A Game?

We enjoyed a bunch of games of Skee Ball before Eric beat me at Centepede. By then I was starving! What’s for dinner?

Why, bbq, of course!

We started with the pork arepa, which is a pulled pork sammie on a cornmeal bun, with a gorgeous cilantro sauce. Second starter – the fantastic homemade fried pickles. Best ever.

Pulled Pork Arepa – Yummy!

Before we dug into our mains, we were treated to a glimpse of a very special challenge. The “Big Muff” challenge. One pound of each of their meats, on bread – six pounds total weight. Eat it in an hour and it’s free and you get your name on a plaque. Don’t finish and you pay for it ($35.00). Take a look.

Did he finish? Keep reading to find out!

In the meantime, Eric and I dug into the Pork Platter with Cheesy Tater Tots and the Tikinxic (fish prepared Yucatan style) that arrived with tortillas and a lovely salad with a chipotle dressing. It was all so good!

My Tikinxic Fish. Fresh and lovely!

We were so full, so you can imagine our surprise when that fellow who took the Big Muff Challenge was finishing up those 6 pounds of meat and the bun. Whew. I was exhausted just watching! Owner, Mike, said this was the first time anyone had met the challenge. We visited on a very special night indeed!

The Big Winner, With Owner, Mike LaSage.

Wonder how that guy felt the next morning?

Bone Lick is brought to you by the same fine team that heads P’Cheen. I love P’Cheen, too. They have a menu item called “Just Trust Me.” You order this and just trust that the kitchen will whip up something fabulous for you. I love this idea so much that I once did it twice in a night.

Oh, and who else loves Bone Lick BBQ? The Foo Fighters, that’s who.

Heck, if it’s good enough for Dave Grohl, it’s sure good enough for me!

xoxo, Patti
