And happy Saturday! I have so much to share that I just couldn’t resist a little time with you this weekend.

Is there a favorite young girl in your life? Daughter, niece, cousin, goddaughter? Of course there is. And if she is between the ages of 13-18, have I got an idea for you! Michelle Payer, Area Director of P.R. for the Miami Ritz-Carlton Hotels, has come up with the grooviest way to treat your favorite young lady. Charm Camp!! Oh my goodness, let me give you the details, because it is almost too exciting.

First off, this is not the old-fashioned, balance-a-book on your head type Charm Camp.  Oh no. This camp has a very handsome chef, the Miami Heat cheerleaders and Benefit cosmetics!! I wish I could go – but for all your women who are headed down to South Beach with your little darlings, they have a Tanning Butler at the pool for you! While little miss is in Charm Camp, you can hang out by the pool with the hotel’s one-of-a-kind Tanning Butler. How very South Beach!

New program for teen girls teaches poise, etiquette, healthy snacking,

Makeovers with Benefit Cosmetics and choreography by Miami HEAT dancers

MIAMI, FL – April 26, 2010 – Inspired by the city’s model-laden streets, culture, fashion and unabashed charisma, The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach introduces Charm Camp, an innovative etiquette program with an updated twist to teach teen girls 13-18 the basics of modern-day manners, beauty, makeup, poise, style and verbiage, as well as healthy eating habits with hands-on time in the kitchen led by Ritz-Carlton chefs, age-appropriate beauty with Benefit Cosmetics, and a choreographed dance routine taught by the Miami HEAT dancers, who will share insight into their ambassadorial roles.

Open to hotel guests and the public, the half-day, five hour charm school (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) is $175 per teen and is limited to 15 young ladies per class for maximum attention. The desired result is to polish skills teens can put to use while in the “glam capital” of South Beach and incorporate into their everyday lives. For those wishing to spend the weekend, special guestroom rates begin at $279 per night, based on availability.

The first Charm Camp is June 19, with two additional classes slated for November and December, in time for the holidays.

RITZ-CARLTON CHARM CAMP SCHEDULE – SATURDAY, JUNE 19, 2010:
Be Yourself with Benefit Cosmetics Makeup Class

This hour-long session with Ritz-Carlton makeup artists will introduce girls to Benefit Cosmetics, the San Francisco-based global beauty brand with the whimsical candy-store atmosphere that’s known for its fun approach to makeup. Using a palette of cult favorites and new products (like the newly introduced Porefessional Pro Balm), Ritz-Carlton makeup artists will teach young ladies how to create a fresh look that is age appropriate and complements every skin type. Each young lady will receive a deluxe gift bag of Benefit Cosmetics to create their personal look at home.

The Art of Conversation

This mini class takes a page out of The Ritz-Carlton handbook to impart awareness about conducting oneself as a lady, creating positive first impressions, greeting guests and making them feel welcome, using proper telephone etiquette and appropriate vocabulary, practicing good posture, enhancing a simple “yes” or “no” response, remembering the all-important “Thank You” note and imparting overall positivity.

Healthy Cooking/Eating Class

Teens will go behind the scenes in the kitchen with Ritz-Carlton, South Beach chefs for a fun, interactive class that teaches the ease of making healthy eating choices with ingredients found in every grocery store. With childhood obesity on the rise and eating disorders/body issues manifesting themselves in teen years, The Ritz-Carlton chefs will endeavor to make a positive impact on Charm Camp participants and teach them to make tasty, low-calorie dishes, easy after-school snacks and healthy smoothies for natural energy.

‘Dance and Dazzle’ with the Miami HEAT Dancers
Two Dancers from the four-time “Most Popular Dance Team in the NBA” Miami HEAT Dancers will lead an hour-long dance choreography clinic to share their award-winning dance moves with the Charm School ladies. Following the dance lesson, the Dancers will lead a question and answer session discussing etiquette and appearances, being a role model, making a positive impression and being an active member of the community.
