A Most Glamorous Brunch

Written by Patti on June 7th, 2010

Good Morning, Darlings!

Sex And The City 2 has opened and what better way to celebrate the girls than by starting with brunch at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead? I know, I’ve been spending a lot of time at The Ritz, but I am sure Carrie Bradshaw would approve. I donned my girliest outfit ever – pink frilly top, Liz Claiborne garden skirt, sweet sandals and a very pink beaded purse. I might have looked more fluffy pink cupcake than glamour girl, but it suited the occasion.

The Perfect Skirt For A Brunch With Friends

Pair my sugary apparel with bestie Holly and the most dazzling brunch buffet known to Western Civilization and we were on! A red carpet was awaiting our arrival at the entrance to The Ritz-Carlton. Opening the door we were enveloped by the sounds of a tuxedo-clad pianist in a lobby dripping with crystal chandeliers. Jaw dropping, to say the least.

Holly and Me, Glamming It Up

I need not have worried about being overdressed. The dining room was filled with glamour girls – we even spotted one sporting a tiara. We were in the right place. On our way in we met Sandra Ryder, the PR Queen of the Atlanta area Ritz-Carltons, along with Jennifer Brett, aka The Butterfly, who writes the Peach Buzz for the AJC. The ladies were off to view the film as we were just beginning our day.

And what a way to start a day! Our server promptly brought out two well-mixed Buckhead Cosmos and then took us on a tour of the buffet. The room was laden with tasty treats, from a Caviar Bar (with three different types of roe, buckwheat blini and all the traditional toppings), a seafood bar (giant prawns, oysters on the half-shell, fresh sushi, mussels and crab fritters), traditional brunch fare (bacon, sausages, fried potatoes, pancakes, eggs benedict topped with truffles, cheese grits and oatmeal), a made-to-order omelette and waffle station, a carving station (roast beef, leg of lamb, plus more), a cold salad table, pastry station and last but certainly not least, the dessert station, which held more desserts than two girls could ever consume (but we tried!)

A Beautifully Set Table for Two Best Friends

First round – traditional breakfast. The eggs benedict was perfect and the waffle was crunchy on the outside, tender inside.

For You Traditionalists Out There

Unfortunately, we were ravenous and I forgot to photograph this plate. Sorry.

Let me make it up to you by taking you on the buffet tour.

The Caviar Bar – Do You See The Ice Shoe? The Whole Caviar Bar is Ice!

An ice sculpture just amps up the glamour, doesn’t it?

Still More Desserts

My second plate consisted of the specialties from the seafood bar. It was all so fresh and delicious.

Fresh, Fresh, Fresh – Need I Say More?

But, wait! There’s more!  Every Glamour Girl (or guy), leaves with a Goodie Bag chock full of fun.  My personal favorite gift was the box of Manolo Blahnik notecards, painted with the most gorgeous shoes from the collection.  There is also a certificate for 10% off spa services at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, a trio of Kerstin Florian beauty products (the Caviar Night Cream made my skin glow!) and there was a shoe shaped cookie – so adorable!

Everything You Need To Feel Beautiful

There is still an opportunity to enjoy this brunch each Sunday through June.

On the same Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. in the ladies shoe salon at Neiman Marcus, guests may enjoy a Champagne cocktail while a sketch artist creates a keepsake drawing of the glamour girl in her stilettos, and one lucky guest will have the opportunity to go home with a special gift.

The cost of Glamour Girls Sunday Brunch is $48 per person, exclusive of tax and gratuities, and is offered Sundays, May 30 and June 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Reservations are required and may be made by calling the hotel at (404) 240-7035 or visiting OpenTable: Atlanta Restaurants.

Again, very special thanks to Sandra Ryder and The Ritz-Carlton for treating Holly and me like princesses. Can you blame me for wanting to spend so much time there?

xoxo, Patti
