A Most Glamorous Brunch

Good Morning, Darlings!

Sex And The City 2 has opened and what better way to celebrate the girls than by starting with brunch at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead? I know, I’ve been spending a lot of time at The Ritz, but I am sure Carrie Bradshaw would approve. I donned my girliest outfit ever – pink frilly top, Liz Claiborne garden skirt, sweet sandals and a very pink beaded purse. I might have looked more fluffy pink cupcake than glamour girl, but it suited the occasion.

The Perfect Skirt For A Brunch With Friends

Pair my sugary apparel with bestie Holly and the most dazzling brunch buffet known to Western Civilization and we were on! A red carpet was awaiting our arrival at the entrance to The Ritz-Carlton. Opening the door we were enveloped by the sounds of a tuxedo-clad pianist in a lobby dripping with crystal chandeliers. Jaw dropping, to say the least.

This past Saturday, my angel of a husband tackled making paella for 7 of us. Armed with a recipe given to us by our dear Chioke (who coaxed it out of a chef in Barcelona!), Eric took to the kitchen like a man on a mission. And it was a mission – feed 7 hungry friends.

Arepas Day!

Good Morning, Darlings!

Still celebrating my birthday, even though we are going into March. Yesterday Holly treated me to lunch and let me pick the spot. I picked Las Arepas de Julia on Lawrenceville Highway. On a trip to NYC long ago, Eric and I sampled some arepas from a street cart during a neighborhood festival. They were just some of the most delicious things we had ever eaten, so when I learned that someone was making them here in Atlanta, I figured it would absolutely worth the trip OTP (that’s Outside The Perimeter for those of you outside Atlanta, and thus, OTP).

We knew we had arrived when we spotted the bright, colorful sign outside:

I had the sweetest time in NOLA with my darling husband, but the birthday celebration didn’t stop there.  This past Friday night, 22 of us gathered to celebrate some more at Karaoke Melody, a terrific spot on Buford Highway that has private karaoke rooms. Most.Fun.Ever.

Thanksgiving Pictorial

I thought I was going to regale you all with some pithy commentary on yesterday’s dinner. But I think I will let the photos speak for themselves. A wonderful day was had by all of us. Eric, John, Danny, Holly, Isham and Tracy and I gathered round the table (we were able to set all the dishes out on the new table John brought me for my kitchen that belonged to his grandmother – so excited to have this heirloom!) There was no drama, no kitchen upsets or drunk relatives. It was the nicest, calmest, dearest Thanksgiving ever.
