The Boys Are Back!

Good Morning Darlings!

If you are a fan of divine parties and fab furnishings, then you must be tuned into Eddie Ross, yes? He is the East Coast Editor for Better Homes and Gardens and I am so lucky to call him and his incredibly charming partner, Jaithan, my friends.

Have you been with me for a while? If so, you will remember the night Eric and I hosted Eddie, Jaithan and a flock of other marvelous friends in our home for a grand dinner party.  We had the best fun!

Eddie and Jaithan have been hard at work on their fantastic book, Eddie Ross Modern Mix.

Featuring never-before-seen photographs of Eddie’s own homes—his eclectic apartment in New York and Pine Hill Farm in Connecticut—Modern Mix cracks the code to navigating thrift shops, yard sales and flea markets with confidence.

And if you are lucky enough to catch him when he comes to your town, you might be able to join him on a shopping expedition so you can find your own treasures!

Buy This Book!

The book is chock full of delights! This past Thursday I had the chance to catch up with my friends when they arrived in Atlanta. Steve McKenzie gave a fab party for the boys in his own new outlet filled with things you have to have for your home!

I also had the distinct pleasure of saying hello to NY Times best selling author, Mary Kay Andrews and renowned food stylist and party maven, Annette Joseph. Annette will be giving us some tips for the holidays in November. Stay tuned!

Good Morning, Darlings!

If you are like me, you like to peruse the internet for party ideas. I was popping around and found these fun snacks just in time for your weekend Spooktacular! We will be attending the posh Halloween bash at the loft of our friends, Carrie & Steven. The weather should be cool, so my fairly hefty costume should pose no problems.

Need some ideas for your party? Look what I found for you!

How To Host A Legend

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Good Morning, Darlings!

You would call Eddie Ross a designer on Bravo’s Top Design, the former Senior Style Editor for Martha Stewart Living, Decorating Editor for House Beautiful, Contributing Editor to Woman’s Day and wildly popular blogger.

I am lucky enough to call him my friend.

When I learned that Eddie and his ultra fabulous beau, Jaithan, were going to be in town in July, they were so kind to set aside some time in their incredibly busy schedules to join us for dinner.

Okay, now that they have agreed to dinner – where do I go from here? This was not to be a wienie cookout with s’mores (though there is nothing wrong with that!), but needed to be warm, inviting and sophisticated – like the two of them.

Warm – check
Inviting – check
Sophisticated – let me work on that

I’m On Television, Y’all!

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Good Morning, Darlings!

A week or so ago, I received an email from friend Laura Scholz of Scholz Communications, with the news that Fox News Channel was looking for people who had been laid off but were making the best of it. I am the poster child for FunEmployment! So after exchanging emails with Elizabeth Prann of Fox News, a time and date was set for she and her camera man to come by for an interview.

Um, I’ve never been on tv before. What to do? Why, call up my sweetie Eddie Ross and ask for pointers, of course! Eddie had just enough words of wisdom to get me through the willies. Pile on the make up, be yourself. Can anyone really be themselves with a camera in their face? I could certainly try.

The big day came and I whipped up some blueberry cobbler for our guests first thing in the morning. Elizabeth and camera man Tom were right on time.

Fun Find Friday-La Plates

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Good Morning, Darlings!

This week’s treat comes to us via my buddy, Eddie Ross, who turned me onto these awesome personalized plates. So adorable!

Of course, I’m partial to this one:

La Plates are made of melamine, which means they are dishwasher safe. They are not for use in your microwave, though. Lara Shelton is the force behind these gorgeous settings for your table. She has tons of colors to choose from and much more items to try other than plates. There are cups, placemats, trays, flatware caddies – just everything awaiting your monogram.

And since they are so durable, they are perfect for all those outdoor fetes you are planning this summer. You can tote them to your family reunion, picnic, outdoor concert, even take them on the boat!

There is no reason not to be stylish just because it’s summertime.  You have every chance to be stylish with La Plates!

Good Morning, Darlings!

The weather is getting warmer and although I have been a bit on party-giving hiatus, I am ready to get back in the swing of things. Last night, I broke out my pink seersucker jacket (Ralph Lauren, found for a steal at the Goodwill), and took my new Editor-in-Chief at Design Is Magazine, Walt, to a panel discussion at SCAD Atlanta. The panel topic was From Magazine to Monitor — The Rise of the Blog, and although that was an important topic to us, as a new online magazine (debuting in September, but blogging about it until then), more importantly, Eddie Ross and Jaithan Kochar were 50% of the guest speakers, along with Rita Konig from the New York Times and Nick Olsen, who were both hilariously funny.

If you have been reading since the beginning of the year, you would understand my delight in seeing Eddie + Jaithan, the darlingest darlings on the planet. Eddie, in the past, has been the senior style editor for Martha Stewart, blogger extraordinaire and now, a contributing editor to Woman’s Day magazine. It was the greatest treat catching up with them, however brief. Some pics from last night:

Birthday In NOLA – Lucky Day Three!

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Good Morning, Darlings!

Day three in New Orleans was the greatest and….it was my actual birthday, so even better!

Eric and I arose fairly early and caught the trolley to The Trolley Stop Cafe for brunch.  And since it was my birthday and I could do anything I wanted, I ordered a blueberry waffle and a crab cake. Both delicious. Eric ordered the eggs, toast and bacon. Also yummy.

After brunch we wandered around the Garden District and enjoyed all the beautiful homes. The architecture in New Orleans really is fantastic and refreshingly without a whit of snobbery.  Then we hit Magazine Street for some shopping. Such fun.

Darling Eddie and the NY Bully

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Good Morning, Darlings!

Remember our good friend, Eddie Ross? Well, it seems that a fellow contestant for the Bloomingdale’s window design competition is trying to bulldozer them.  And we just cannot have that, now, can we? Our sweet, genteel gentleman friend will not be surpassed by this media bully.

Could you all be so sweet as to pop over to Bloomingdale’s Big Window Challenge and vote? Do it online here and by texting 1 to 89800. Thank you, everyone! Eddie + Jaithan appreciate your help immensely! It’s a bit of doing to get registered, but once registered, you can vote twice per day.

The Larson-Juhl Experience

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Good Afternoon, Darlings!

Saturday afternoon I was treated to the most wonderful time by Larson-Juhl, those fabulous folks who hosted Thursday night’s dinner with Eddie and Jaithan. This event was a splendid afternoon tea and framing workshop with Eddie, and it was quite the fête.  Held at the gorgeous Larson-Juhl headquarters in Norcross, GA, a group of about 50 were lavished with the most amazingly presented food,  luscious sauvignon blanc and spectacular floral arrangements, created by Eddie himself. I also got a chance to meet reader Audra – Hi Audra! xoxo

Good Morning and Happy New Year Darlings!

I am feeling so much better and so happy to be returning to you today!

I bet the holidays afforded tons of photo ops for you and your loved ones. It certainly did for us.  And some of those photographs are so precious I would like to preserve them. Maybe give them as gifts. Trust me – there is no better gift than a wonderful remembrance of time spent together. It is a gift that no one else can bequeath.  There was one time when I worked for a boss that was so much more of a friend than employer, but he had everything. He was impossible to buy for.  But – he had recently traveled to Scotland to play the holy grail of golf courses – St. Andrews.  I contacted his friend who had arranged the trip and lo and behold, he had a great picture of Kent teeing off on that famous green.  He was ever so kind to send me the negative and I had it enlarged and framed for him for Christmas. He was delighted. And who wouldn’t be? It was one-of-a-kind.  And it was all about the recipient. And that my darlings, is the heart of perfect gift giving.

This Saturday, January 9th, I am attending a framing workshop at Larson-Juhl in Norcross with the incredible Eddie Ross and the equally fabulous Jaithan.  Now, if you don’t know, Eddie has previously worked for Martha Stewart as the Senior Style Editor (!!!), so you know this is going to be the place to BE on Saturday. I am giddy with excitement.  And to top that, the class is free for bloggers and only $10 for the general public. Not only will Eddie dazzle us with framing tips, but he is also hosting a scrumptious little tea (wine) party, with all sorts of delectables.  And take a looksee at darling Eddie, don’t you just want to grab him and give him the biggest hug? Too cute.

Eddie is also hosting a treasure hunt the next day at Scott’s Antiques, but I’m not sure if that is already sold out.  To make a reservation for the framing class and/or the treasure hunt, please email Jaithan at jaithan@eddieross.com for a spot.  I would love to spend the afternoon framing and visiting with you and Eddie. It is the perfect antidote to all the excesses of the holiday season and a lovely chance to meet some really lovely folks. Just think – one degree of separation from Martha!

And what does this have to do with giving a dinner party? Why, Darlings, don’t you think that photos of friends in frames would make the sweetest keepsakes and placecards?  I can’t think of a more wonderful way to let your dinner guests know how much you care and how happy you are that they are there.

Come on, email Jaithan and I’ll see you on Saturday!

xoxo, Patti
