Anatomy of a Dinner Party: a day in the life of a hospitalityaholic

Lap Dances, Mutant Flowers and a Snow Yeti…um, Owl

Written by Patti on December 24th, 2013

Good Morning Darlings!

Merry Christmas Eve to you and your loved ones.

2013’s Black Tie Gala is now behind us and I thought I would share some photos with you.

This year’s theme was The Enchanted Forest and as I am the least crafty person I know, I have no clue why I picked a theme that would be so danged craft-intensive.

Luckily, a boodle of my friends were happy to pitch in and make 50 tissue paper clouds, dozens of giant butterflies and paper flowers the size of trees. I was concerned it would look like a cheesy prom, but you know what? It looked really cool.

Eric and I fashioned a snowy owl out of foam core board and feathered boas. Sarah and Valerie strung a boodle of snowflakes to hang from the living room ceiling and Eric made the coolest giant mushrooms.

Later that night, I spied my friend giving Tracy’s 70+ aunt a lap dance, friends took a million photos with the giant flowers and we danced until we dropped. The last guest left at 4:30 a.m. Holly, Eric and I stayed up til 6 a.m. recalling all the fun.

BEST.PARTY.EVER.

Here’s a peek:

The dining room changed to the bar with a spring motif that had clouds and butterflies flying from the ceiling.

I am so happy our darling, Chioke, is back from NYC!

Here is a shot of Eric and I wrestling among the giant blooms.

Eric is fluffing the flowers so they will look great in the photos. I just giggled.

A few more shots that just warmed my heart. This was a very special party with our favorite people.

That’s it!
