Good Morning Darlings!
Happy Monday! How was your Superbowl Sunday? What were your favorite snacks?
Eric and I had a really nice party. About 20 friends showed up to drink, eat and yell (and laugh) at the television.
Madonna’s halftime show was much better than I expected it to be and some of those commercials had us in stitches.
Superbowl is special to my sweetie and I since we met at a party 13 years ago. So this was our 14th big game together. Eric & I taped the game, so after everyone went home we queued it up and watched all the commercials we missed. Fun!
I have some cleaning up to do today, but here’s how it looked from our house. The day before John, Eric and I were in the kitchen, whipping up tamales. Sunday, John showed up with so many gorgeous treats – ham & cheese in puff pastry, guacamole, savory sundried tomato cheesecake with pesto, shortbread cookies and I’m sure I’m missing something. Brandon stopped by with beer & cheddar cupcakes with bacon cream cheese frosting, there were smoked deviled eggs by Crystal, more yummy deviled eggs by Valerie, Jay cooked up some spicy terrific wings, Meaghan & Dave came by with a beautiful cheese tray and the cutest tiny chocolate mousses with tiny matching spoons. Our buddy Rick brought really tasty meatballs and Patricia cooked up a pot of lovely roasted corn grits. Sarah knows my weakness for Cheetos and gifted us with 2 different kinds (I really love Cheetos). Eric & I whipped up tamales and empanadas and I bet there was more. Whew.

Food, get ready for your closeups!
Here’s the recipe John used. You have to make these. OMG. SO good.
Ham and Cheese in Puff Pastry
Ina Garten, All Rights Reserved
Serves: 6 servings (we got at least 20 mini sammies from this
Ingredients
1 package (2 sheets) frozen puff pastry, defrosted
(recommended: Pepperidge Farm)
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/4 pound black forest ham, sliced
1/2 pound Swiss Gruyere cheese, sliced
1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water, for egg wash
Directions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Place a piece of parchment paper on a sheet pan.
Lay 1 sheet of puff pastry on a floured board and carefully roll it out to 10 by 12
inches. Place it on a sheet pan and brush the center with the mustard, leaving a
1-inch border around the edge. Place a layer first of ham and then cheese, also
leaving a 1-inch border. Brush the border with the egg wash.
Such fun!
Hope your evening was as grand.
xoxo, Patti
Today blogging to Madonna – Halftime Show 2012
Holy cats, that is a huge spread! And here I thought my mother had gone out and bought ALL the food.
I had hoped Madonna wouldn’t do her current songs and give us the old stuff, Borderline, Shining Star, Virgin, etc. I was pretty bored w/it, sad to say but she looked good!
I agree Kathleen… I wasn’t impressed. She does have a great plastic surgeon though!
On another note… Thanks for inviting me Patti Cake. I had a blast, and everything on the table was scrumptious! Shout out to John… you’re the bomb.com! :o)
Sorry we missed it! Looks like a delicious blast…
Clint,
It was oodles of fun!
