Written by Patti on August 1st, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

I am waking up this morning at The Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Plantation, but if you are contemplating a visit to Amelia Island, my friends there have some fabulous happenings going on!

Salt, their signature restaurant, is a most fascinating place to visit. How many other places can boast a Salt Menu? Too cool.

Salt Selection!

“American BBQ,” Salt Cooking School, Wednesday and Thursday,August 17-18th

Follow Chef de Cuisine Rick Laughlin and his culinary team for 2 days of Basting, Smoking and Grilling. Amateur chefs master the art of cooking with interactive classes at Salt. The two-day classes allow participants to go behind the scenes at Salt, the resort’s award-winning fine dining restaurant, to learn the savory secrets and tasty techniques of acclaimed Chef de Cuisine, Rick Laughlin. With a format designed to accommodate every skill level, aspiring chefs receive personalized training from a group of instructors who employ a unique “hands-on” approach to culinary education.

Classes begin with a continental breakfast each morning. The first day features a tour of the facility and an overview of the responsibilities held by each member of the Salt culinary team. Students then disperse to various work stations to create the components of a special four-course lunch menu reflecting the seasonal class theme. Later that day, students and teachers share a family style lunch paired with a selection of fine wines. On the second day, students refine their new skills as they rotate throughout the kitchen preparing a complete gourmet feast and once again dine with the chefs of Salt.
