Anatomy of a Dinner Party: a day in the life of a hospitalityaholic

An Island Paradise

Written by Patti on May 7th, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

As we approach warmer temperatures, my thoughts turn to canning and preserving vegetables. If you are like me, some extra space would be extremely helpful.

Collecting strawberries for freezer jam and tomatoes for jars and jars of marinara is a wonderful thing, but if you don’t have the counter space to hold all your goodies, you need to start thinking about where you can chop and dice all your fresh treasures.

I’m thinking kitchen islands. Doesn’t the thought of buying a new kitchen island make you feel happy? I am picturing myself in one of my favorite aprons, listening to music and chopping and stirring away. How about you? What is your style?

I love this cart! It holds everything! You could put your canning jars underneath for easy access. And it rolls! You could roll it right up to the stove to have it close by. Oh the joy!

This cart is sooo my style.

If you like your wood unpainted, here’s a swell choice. This is a nice, sturdy island just begging to used for making dinner for the family. Since it has a butcher block top, you don’t have to worry about a thing. Just get to chopping.

It even has space for your knives!

To get you started, I am linking you to this great recipe for making freezer jam. My personal favorite is strawberry. I could eat it straight from the jar. This blog, Pinch My Salt, is adorable. It’s okay, I won’t be jealous.

What are you planning to make when you have more fruits and veggies than you know what to do with? Leave me a comment and let me know.

Happy Saturday, Darlings!

xoxo, Patti
