Picnic Time!

Written by Patti on August 4th, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

Holly and I are now making our way back to Atlanta from Orlando. More twizzlers and diet cokes. And some more Bono and the Edge.

Maybe we should pack a picnic basket. Doesn’t that sound lovely?

The Weather Channel has a boodle of great tips for all picnics. Take a look here.

What is better than a swanky picnic basket?

Picnic Baskets.com has a ton of gorgeous ways to carry your outdoor feast.

You are going to need something tasty for your picnic basket. What is your picnic food of choice?

I love friend chicken. And chicken salad. I could eat chicken salad in almost every way. It is my favorite. My favorite recipe is to just dice some chicken, mix with mayo, dill, onions and a bit of celery. Voila – you are done! Swing by the bakery for the most luscious brownies (I like Bear Maker Bakery – his ancho brownies are to die for), yummy chips (we love Doritos), maybe a fresh salad and either wine or your favorite beverage. If you are making ice tea or another beverage that is not carbonated, you can purchase tupperware cups, fill them with your preferred beverage and freeze. That way they are ice cold when you reach your destination. That’s how my mama always brought along drinks on long trips.

Saveur has some great tips, too.

One thing I would suggest is to remember to pack a trash bag. You will be so glad you did. Not only can you use it for your refuse, but if it rains, you have an instant tarp (if you haven’t already filled it, of course).

A picnic is so romantic!

In a month or so, it will be time to tailgate!

xoxo, Patti

A picnic would be so lovely. I was thinking of one the other day as a date option for our anniversary this weekend. It just needs to cool off about 30 degrees! =)

Have a safe trip home and hope you had a wonderful time!

We do pot-luck picnics in the little park in Cabbagetown. So much fun with lawn games, tasty food and impromptu musical entertainment.
I think the next one will be Labor Day — stop on by!
