Picnic Musings

Written by Patti on July 19th, 2012

Good Morning Darlings!

It is almost time for the 2012 Summer Olympics, when all eyes will be on London.

There’s something about nibbling treats while watching the planet’s greatest athletes that puts me in a festive mood. But you all know I have been super busy, and have no time to prepare a fabulous spread for my friends.

How I picture my picnic.

Shhh, don’t tell anyone else, but I am ordering an English-themed picnic basket from Clearwater Hampers. Only they call them hampers, which sounds so much more sophisticated, doesn’t it?

Lets take a peek inside the hampers and see what we’ve packed for our picnic, be it on the lawn, or on the living room floor to watch the games.

Ooooh, I love the Best of British Cream Tea Treat. With Quadruple(!) Chocolate Chunk Biscuits (we know them better as scones, but calling them biscuits is so much cooler) and the precious Union Jack tea pot, I could see Eric and me having a very posh breakfast under our backyard magnolia as the dogs frolic and butterflies alight. It probably wouldn’t play out as serenely, but in mind, it does.

Eric and I will be enjoying this on a sweet summer morning.

After breakfast, a little lawn bowling and a nap in the hammock, we will need a snack for watching the games on the telly. I’m feeling too fabulous to untidy the kitchen, so I will order the Fly The Flag and indulge in all manner of tasty tidbits. This comes with butter fudge and honeycomb bites. Don’t you want to try that? Me, too! And tins of crisps, smoked cheese biscuits, Union Jack rock (hard candies), and two types of cheese.

I need this in my life. And so do you! Treat yourself – it’s summer, it’s picnic time, it’s the Olympics.

Hampers! I will never again call it a picnic basket. If it’s good enough for David Beckham, it’s good enough for me.

Cheers, Patti
