Anatomy of a Dinner Party: a day in the life of a hospitalityaholic

National Vodka Day!

Written by Patti on October 4th, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

Did you know there is a National Vodka Day? I didn’t either, until recently!

National cocktail guru Duane Fernandez has put together some unique ingredients to create these four amazing new spins on some old cocktail classics.

Here are his creations for the holiday:

We all know a thing or two about the Moscow Mule, but its time this hybrid donkey changed it up a bit. By adding rosemary syrup and a splash of lime we now see the Moscow mule in a whole new light.

Moscow Mule

Rosemary Moscow Mule

Russian Standard Vodka
Ginger Beer
Rosemary Syrup
Fresh Lime
Rosemary as garnish

With this Brazilian that turned itself into a Ruskie, we added cranberries to create the ultimate sweet and sour combo.

Mmmm, cranberry!

Cranberry Capiroska
Russian Standard Vodka
Fresh cranberries
Lime
Simple syrup
Club Soda

Even though this is the ultimate symbol of cocktails and spies worldwide, a little addition of cheese never hurt anyone. The savory, creamy filling has the zing of blue cheese which perfectly complements the olive and the vodka.

Shaken, not stirred.

Standard Martini
Russian Standard Vodka
Dry Vermouth
Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives

This little cocktail got its name from Yankee petroleum engineers that secretly mixed the two ingredients while on the job in the 1950s. Drinkers of today have demanded a healthier liquid breakfast, so we added some blood orange…mission accomplished.

Vodka, it's not just for happy hour anymore!

Screwdriver
Russian Standard Vodka
Blood Orange Juice
Blood Orange

Ok, everybody, go pick up some Russian Standard Vodka – this stuff is so smooth, you don’t have to mix it with anything at all. I wouldn’t lie to you!
