St. Patti’s Day! What Are We Imbibing?

Written by Patti on March 17th, 2011

Good Morning Darlings!

You are all now familiar with my friend Esther in NYC. Esther just sent me a fun recipe for tonight. It covers all the requirements: 1. Easy to make. 2. Easy to drink. 3. It’s green.

What’s new Esther??

While most people, Irish or not, enjoy getting into the “spirit” of the day some are not necessarily fans of the Irish brews and booze and might much prefer to go against the grain and choose a little Latin luck instead…. Below is one option that several bars nationwide (I can send you names if you’re interested) will be offering them up to guests….

Would you pick Salma Hayek over Sinead O’Connor? Do you prefer salsa to the Irish step? Are you the only tequila man in a group of whiskey lovers? This St. Patrick’s Day, you can become a member of an elite group of Irishmen who also weren’t afraid to take the Latin leap. The luck of the Irish still rings true: Jack Donaghy had a passionate affair with Elisa on “30 Rock”, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves are going strong, and the world will never forget Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.

These iconic Irish lads didn’t hesitate when they chose their Latina lass. While the rest of the guys are drinking beer and whiskey on March 17, let Hornitos™ help you go against the grain with the Shamrocker. The green and orange will remind you to think of the Emerald Isle, and the Hornitos™ tequila will give you a night you’ll never forget.

Yes, I would like another, please.

The Hornitos™ Shamrocker

1 part Hornitos™ Plata Tequila
1 part DeKuyper® Melon Liqueur
1/2 part Triple Sec
Splash of Orange Juice

Combine ingredients in cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a Hornitos™ Devil Horn shot glass. Garnish with an orange slice.

Doesn’t that sound delicious? In our neighborhood we are trying to organize a drink crawl. Lets see how far we get.

It’s my day, y’all! Wear green or I will give you a little pinch on the cheek!

xoxo, Patti

Oh gosh Patti, that sounds amazingly delicious! I do believe a trip to the store is due before my children come in from school, and a nightcap for me (since Audley’s gone I don’t have to share) after they have gone to bed!

Thanks for sharing, and Happy St. Paddy’s Day!
