Anatomy of a Dinner Party: a day in the life of a hospitalityaholic

Fashion First

Good Morning, Darlings!

What a wonderful weekend we had! Friday night we had dinner at Shaun’s (more on that tomorrow), slept in on Saturday and went to have our passport renewal photos taken (lots of trips coming up!) and Sunday saw me at two events, which is unusual for me, but they were both so packed with fashion and fab folks that I couldn’t pass them up.

One of those parties was at the home of my fun friend Elizabeth. Our friend, style-maker Victor was there to give tips on what to do with those fashion pieces in our closets that stumped us.

But first, a tour of Elizabeth’s adorable cottage. It is so her – fun and sweet and whimsical. I loved it!

I loved all the artistic touches in my friend’s home. Everywhere I turned there was a new surprise.

The manatee mantra

I especially loved the art above the sink. So cool.

Everything is so deliciously eclectic!

There were 7 of us, each bringing an item (or two) from our closet that we would like to wear in a fresh way.

Dress form all set up for our clothing dilemmas

Mine was this fab scarf that is huge. What else can I do with it?

Victor suggested wearing it as a belt.

There were also prizes! A huge gift basket and a gift card to Nordstrom. Who wouldn’t want that?

Treasure Chest of Goodies

The basket was won by Shari and Nancy got the gift card. Yay for them!

Elizabeth and Ann listen intently

Victor has a plethora of great ideas. Plus, he is great fun! I think anyone could improve their image after a session with Victor. Maybe now is the time as you are getting ready to pull out the Autumn wardrobe? Methinks, yes.

Part of our group.

Thanks so much to Elizabeth and Victor. I met lots of lovely ladies and we all had a blast. Elizabeth, you certainly know how to put the right personalities together.

That sounds like a lot of fun! Elizabeth looks very familiar for some reason. Would she happen to work at Turner?

  2. Elizabeth says:

I do work at Turner! I’m a Cartoon Network gal. Should I look for you in the cafeteria? 🙂

Thanks for the lovely photos Patti. You always make us look so good. I can’t wait to see you wearing that scarf as a belt!

I knew I recognized you! No, I don’t work at Turner, but my husband and I met you months ago at a wine tasting at Wine Shoe! It’s hilarious that I kept thinking I should know who you were and suddenly it hit me that I met someone at Wine Shoe who worked for the Cartoon Network and looked just like you 🙂 My memory for faces and odd details such as workplace is apparently better than for names!
