Anatomy of a Dinner Party: a day in the life of a hospitalityaholic

Fun Find Friday

Written by Patti on March 19th, 2010

Good Morning, Darlings!

I think Friday is a great day to dedicate to fun finds, don’t you?

You know how I love the Goodwill.  Oh boy, do I ever!  I especially love perusing the bookshelves, looking for classic or interesting cookbooks.  I recently found a 1975 edition of The Joy of Cooking, in pristine condition, but this one really tickled me.

Apparently Miss Florence Brobeck was the hostess of 1960. Here’s what Amy Vanderbilt says about her:

“One of the warmest, most knowledgeable, and successful hostesses I know is Florence Brobeck. The ideas in this book are workable, feasible and easy to reproduce.”

High praise, indeed.

I’ve just pulled a few pages out for your enjoyment.

I love this chapter name. It denotes perhaps serving a visiting dignitary? Nah, she’s talking about making ethnic foods into a party. I love it. But the next two pages are even better:

The Color of Food

Methinks this would come in handy for the givers of color parties or for the color blind. I’m not quite sure.

But I thought it would be great for Fun Find Friday.

What are you finding out there?

xoxo, Patti
